Penfolds Grange 1957

Perfect condition, the 1957 Penfolds Grange is a highly sought-after wine, notable for its place in Australian wine history. It is one of the three "hidden Granges" made in secrecy by winemaker Max Schubert after the Penfolds board ordered him to stop production. 

• The order to cease production: Following a negative review of the experimental Grange wines by management and wine experts, Schubert was ordered to end the project.
• Continued production: Convinced of the wine's long-term potential, Schubert defied the order and continued to make Grange in secret for three vintages (1957, 1958, and 1959), hiding the barrels deep in the cellars.
• A historical milestone: By 1960, the Penfolds board recognized the aging potential of Grange and officially reinstated production, cementing its status as an Australian icon.
